Information Security is essential in today's IT Environments
InfoSec (Information Security) focuses on encryption, intrusion detection and prevention, and strong authentication as a means towards protecting the security and privacy of sensitive information.
Encryption and intrusion prevention may be invoked at the network and/or the systems layer of an organization’s IT infrastructure. At the network layer, encryption is designed to protect information in motion, while at the systems layer (OS or database), encryption is designed to secure information at rest.
Intrusion prevention, whether at the network or host layer, analyzes behaviors consistent with hacking practices and simultaneously alerts IT staff of the attempted breach and intercedes to prevent the intrusion.
Strong authentication improves security by requiring users logging into a system to possess not only a username and password, but some form of token key as well, eliminating the possibility of someone learning a username and password and using it for unauthorized access.
